Ray Jackson bowls a 511 series last night!!!

    Dear Legions Of Warrior NationTM,

I have some GREAT news, so here it goes:

Last night at All-Star Lanes in Silverdale, during Thursday Night PSNS Red & White Mixed League, I had my best series ever at All-Star Lanes, and my first 500+ series since the old days at the now-defunct Key City Lanes in Port Townsend back during the 1995-96 season, when I bowled a 511 series!!!

After starting with games of 182 and 172, I started with an open frame in the first frame, then marked with a spare in the second, and then disaster happened, when I had four open frames in a row in the third through sixth frames, this knowing I only needed a 146 game to get my first 500 series ever at Jim Monahan's beautiful 40 lane center and my first in almost 12 years. But, just when things looked bleak, I struck when I needed it most with two perfect shots in the seventh and eighth frames and then got a break crossing over with a "Brooklyn" strike in the foundation ninth frame. Then in the tenth, I covered the three-pin to mark with a spare, and got 9 on the fill-ball, finishing with a 157, and a terrific 511 series and a 170.33 average for the week, my first ever 500+ series at All-Star and my first in almost 12 years!!!

The thing that made the difference this week as opposed to all season long, was making a move to start the match, in our 15 minutes of practice, from trying to play around the first arrow, to playing in between the first and second arrows, right around the eighth board down the lane, opting to play that shot instead of trying to pipe it from the extreme edge of the lane. This what we call "track" shot had been my go-to shot I used to throw over at Key City Lanes for 7 years, since I started bowling in leagues in 1989. That extreme outside line shot I was playing before ("gutter" shot), just to try and fit in with the rest of the players who all play that shot out there, had been my downfall for most of this first half of the season, having struggled to a sub-130 average for this first half of the year, having either pulled shots way left of target or even throwing a few gutter balls because of an inconsistent arm swing.

Well Legions, I've gotta go now, as I am about to head out to work to finish up for the week over at Skookum Recycling Center, so until next time, Peace Out, vote Democrat, continue to show your defiance of The Fourth Reich (The Bush Administration), and keep the Faith where it belongs!
